Ingredients

Turkey & Seasoning:

  • 6 cups barbeque sauce (my preference is Sweet Baby Rays)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 4-5 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 tbsp olive oil (to help seasoning stick)

Smoking Setup:

  • Wood: Applewood (mild & sweet) or hickory (bolder flavor)
  • Spritz: 1 cup apple juice + 1 cup water (keeps turkey moist)

Instructions

Prep and Set the Slow Cooker

  1. Pour olive oil in the slow cooker and mix well with barbeque sauce and brown sugar
  2. Wash chicken breasts and place whole in the slow cooker.
  3. Make sure that breasts are just covered with the barbeque sauce and add additional sauce as needed to just cover the chicken.
  4. Place the slow cooker on low and cook for 8 hours

Shred and Buns

  1. Remove chicken from the slow cooker and place on a cutting board or chopping block.
  2. Using a shredding fork or barbeque fork, shred the chicken and transfer to a deep serving dish.
  3. Pour barbeque sauce from the slow cooker over the shredded chicken and mix well.

Serve

  1. Serve chicken on hamburger or slider buns.
  2. Best with your favourite side dish such as potatos, french fries, etc.

This slow-cooked barbecue pulled chicken is juicy, tender, and packed with smoky-sweet flavor. Perfect for weeknight dinners, BBQ gatherings, or tailgating, it’s effortlessly made in a slow cooker and pairs well with a variety of sides like coleslaw, baked beans, or cornbread.
